Education

Education is for enlightenment ---the full development of mind, body, and behavior. The Green Party promotes proven educational programs that directly increase intelligence and creativity and simultaneously improve moral reasoning, self-esteem, and mental and physical health and well-being of our children.
Support school vouchers as a possible alternative to present system. School vouchers could:
o Increase school choice
o Foster competition
o Improve educational outcomes
o Reduce government control
o Cut administrative costs drastically, and funding could be applied directly to the needs of the students, teachers, infrastructure of the schools, etc.

Support funding for JROTC programs in schools. I believe it focuses on discipline and self-respect and students should be encouraged to participate.

Kathy Hodge- Senior Master Sergeant – USAF (Ret.) – Air Force JROTC who is affiliated with the Southside High School in Greenville, SC makes her comments:

"Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) is a high-school elective course for grades 9-12 "builds better and more productive citizens for America". Through structured curriculum and wearing of the uniform, students learn to develop self-discipline, team-work, and leadership skills. College scholarship opportunities are also available."

Ritalin, Adderall, and other stimulants—ADHD/ADD

Support funding for research as to why we have an epidemic and the direct effect that it has on students’ self-esteem and overall physical and emotional growth. Support stricter guidelines for the administering of these drugs. Support funding to educate the public as to the alternatives and more natural ways to treat ADHD/ADD.
